Massimo Re Ferre'
I am currently employed with VMware as a Staff Systems Engineer. My job role is vCloud Architect - EMEA. I spent 15 years of my IT life at IBM working for both IBM Global Services as well as the IBM Systems and Technology group. I have a services and products background around open platforms (mainly x86); my area of expertise comprises server hardware, operating systems, storage and infrastructure related hardware and software technologies.
I am an old school MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer) for NT 4.0 and Windows 2000, an old CCA (Citrix Certified Administrator) for Metaframe, a VCP (VMware Certified Professional) for VI3 / vSphere and I have been appointed vExpert 2009 by VMware (around 300 people globally).
I have lately been quite active in the following areas:
- Virtualization
- Blade architectures
- Scalable Intel and AMD systems
- Storage
- Systems Management solutions
There are two reasons for which I have created this site: share what I know, learn from what you know. I believe in the power of communities, any community, and this is my (little) give-back to all professionals interested in this technology arena. I can say without any doubt that I have learned much more from browsing the net and participating in interesting forum discussions than from any other formal class I have attended. So I hope that what I am posting here is of any interest and use for you.
